Combine multiple PDFs into one

How to merge PDF files

  1. Add your PDF files using the upload area or by dragging and dropping them onto it. You can select multiple files at once.
  2. Reorder the files with the up and down controls to set the final page sequence — the merged PDF follows this exact order.
  3. Remove any file you don't need with its delete button, or clear all and start over.
  4. Click Merge PDFs. The combined document is generated in your browser and downloads automatically.
  5. If the result exceeds your portal's upload limit, run it through the PDF Compressor.

Why you might need this

Most government exam and recruitment portals ask you to upload all your documents as a single PDF — marksheets, caste certificate, Aadhaar, and photo all in one file. If you submit them separately, the portal rejects the application. This merger combines your PDFs in the exact order the notification specifies, so the reviewer gets page 1 (photo) followed by page 2 (ID) followed by page 3 (marksheet) without you needing desktop software.

The two errors people hit most are page order (category certificate before the marksheet when it should be after) and file size (the combined PDF blows past the portal's cap, often 500 KB or 1 MB). Fix the order before you merge; if the size is over, compress the result. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs will fail — remove the password first.

If your documents are still photos or scans (JPGs), convert them to PDF first with the Image to PDF tool, then merge those PDFs here. Need to shrink the final file? Use the PDF Compressor.

Document upload limits on common portals

Portal / exam Format Typical max size
SSC / IBPSSingle PDF100 KB – 1 MB
UPSC CSEPDF2–20 MB (varies)
RBI / SBIPDF500 KB – 1 MB
State PSCPDFCheck notification
College / universityPDF1–5 MB

Always confirm the exact format and size against the official notification before uploading.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser — your PDF files stay on your device and never leave it.

Can I merge scanned documents?

Yes. If the output file is large after merging, run it through the PDF Compressor to bring it under the portal's size limit.

Why is the page order important?

The final PDF follows the exact order shown in the file list, so place your marksheets, IDs, and certificates carefully. Use the up and down buttons to reorder before merging.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

No — encrypted PDFs will fail to merge. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then add the unlocked file.

How many PDFs can I merge?

There's no fixed limit, but very large numbers of files or very large total size may slow down your browser. For heavy batches, merge in smaller groups.

What if I have images, not PDFs?

Convert them to PDF first using the Image to PDF tool, then merge the resulting PDFs here.
